10th Annual Golf Tournament
Monday, March 9th, 2009

There are approximately 240 youth who “age out” of foster care each year in Orange County. Youth “aging out” of the foster care system at age 18 without adequate independent living skills has been a growing national concern for decades. The consequence of inadequate training and support for former foster youth has intensified conditions of incarceration, homelessness, poverty, and under/unemployment.

Since its inception in 1996, Hart Community Homes, Inc., a 501(c) (3) non-profit, has provided a safe and nurturing residential program for over 300 Orange County foster care boys between 13 and 18 years old with backgrounds of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Our priority is to prepare these young men for emancipation as self reliant, responsible members of the community.

One of the special events that support the organization is our Annual Golf Tournament that will be in its 10th year. We are very excited to hold our upcoming tournament, “Your Hands, Their Future,” Monday, March 9th, 2009 at the exclusive player’s course at Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, CA. The Committee’s goal this year is to raise $25,000 that will be applied toward the Monkey Business campaign, benefiting emancipating foster care youth by providing scholarships to the Monkey Business Café’s Workforce Development Program. The emancipated youth will have job and career opportunities as well as a support network as they transition from the child welfare system into independent living.

The committee members invite you to assist Hart Community Homes, Inc. in making a difference in the lives of these young men by participating in this years invitational golf outing or donating an item for our auction. We are seeking donations, such as vacation destination packages, sporting event tickets, golf outings or packages, golf equipment, gift certificates of any kind, memorabilia and collectibles. All donors will be acknowledged at the golf tournament.

Thank you for considering this request. Your support means everything to our Golf Committee, Board of Directors, our staff and the youth at Hart Community Homes. Thanks for helping us make a difference by providing the resources necessary for these youth to become productive citizens in our communities.

Sincerely,
The Golf Committee
